After having multiple discussions during the summer of 2023, with some members, pass board members and a couple current board members. It seems like there is no policy in the bylaws on subleasing of cart sheds or the procedure to follow to do so. I understand that we have members that have had a cart shed for 15 or 20 years and have never owned a cart to put in the shed. But Continue to “ Sublease” their shed to members that are way down the waiting list or maybe to someone that’s not even on the waiting list. I have heard from many members “I’m not real sure how they handle the subleasing and it’s the way they’ve done it for 40 years” My thought is they may have had five people if that back then on a cart shed waiting list compared to the 35-45 people we have had for the last four or five years. I’m not sure how the “ Cart Shed Waiting List” is ever going to shrink if we allow members that have been on the list, maybe one year or less and get to sublease before the members at the top of the list that have been waiting five years to get a cart shed. I would love to see the board take up this policy for discussion and actually add a Policy to the bylaws because as of 2024 there is nothing in the Fulton Country Club By-Laws about “Cart Shed Subleasing”.
]I think to be fair to all members that are on the cart shed waiting list that anyone that subleases their cart shed should only be allowed to do so for one year to members at the “TOP” of the waiting list as those members have been waiting years and not someone that just got on the “Waiting List”. This would probably pretty much insure those members at the Top would get a shed the following yr. We start at the TOP of our “Membership Waiting List” and not just going down the list and handpick who we want to call to be a member. We need a policy/procedure that is fair to all members. FCC is going to get the $$ for a shed because members on the list will pay when they get the call to Rent a shed. They are on that Waiting List for that reason. I had a chance to sublease a golf cart shed the last 2 years which I turned down because I thought that the Board should call the member at the TOP of the Cart Shed Waiting List” FIRST and they can have the “ Right of First Refusal “ on the Cart Shed to “Sublease” if they are not ready to buy a cart yet and Turn Down the Sublease they should remain in their current spot because they are not refusing to RENT a shed but are just choosing NOT to SUBLEASE. That is the only way the Cart Shed Waiting List is going to get shorter . No member should have to be on that list for 4,5, or 6 yrs while others that have only been on the Waiting List 6 months to 2 yrs gets a cart shed ahead of those that have been waiting 5 yrs. Hoping the Board will discuss this topic and come up with a policy that fits in 2024 that is FAIR to ALL members and get away from the “well this how they did it in 198O. Our membership waiting list and our cart shed waiting list are much much larger today then they were back 40-45 yrs ago. Happy Golfing in 2024!!
